# Identity Verification

Humanity uses informal community standards to decide on new applicants to the registry of unique humans.

The community is currently using a [web of trust](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_of_trust) verification system based on an applicant's Twitter graph.

We recommend new applicants to check that they are followed by at least one [verified human](https://www.humanitydao.org/humans) on Twitter before applying.

In addition to Twitter, new applicants can prove their authenticity by joining the [Discord server](https://discord.gg/yvUqPUn) and contributing to the discussion in the #verify channel.
